Guided tour of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris
Located on Place de l’Étoile, the Arc de Triomphe is the largest arch in the world. Its construction began in 1806, at the request of Napoleon, the building was not completed until 1836 under the reign of Louis-Philippe. Beneath the arch is the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, whose flame is revived every evening at 6:30 p.m. At the top of the monument is a museum tracing the history of the Arch of Triumph, located inside the building.
The revival of the Flame under the Arc de Triomphe, a monument wanted by an Emperor, built by a King and sanctioned by the Republic, is an immutable gesture that is repeated every evening at 6:30 pm.
So that this soldier, both unknown and famous and whose silence and sacrifice make greatness, does not see his memory lost in oblivion,
This monument was magnified in 1923 by a flame: it is the «Flame of Remembrance».
